An individual who spiked treats with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
However, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the children "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this over a long period as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to play the "treat game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member contacted the law enforcement once more.
She said the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
